On June 18, 2010, Arizona Republican Senator Jon Kyl told the audience at a North Tempe Tea Party town hall meeting that during a private, one-on-one meeting with President Obama in the Oval Office, the President told him, regarding securing the southern border with Mexico, “The problem is, . . . if we secure the border, then you all won’t have any reason to support ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’” [Audible gasps were heard throughout the audience.] Sen. Kyl continued, “In other words, they’re holding it hostage. They don’t want to secure the border unless and until it is combined with ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’” Sen. Kyl also said he reminded President Obama that the President and the Congress has an obligation, a duty, to secure the border.

Just because in the 80′s and 90′s Republicans changed immigration laws to make it nearly impossible to “legally” immigrate does not change the tide of people who come here just to make a better life for their families.

Do you think they wanted thier lives hampered, stressed & in some cases ruined? Some have worked all their lives for thier homes etc. The older semi-retired ones have it the hardest. Can you imigine having to cut back on your own grocery needs to fill a refrigerator every week for intruders? If calling he cops helped they would do it.

Those Americans do any job they can get, & the pay is not even $15 an hr. I think your wife should be commended for doing what she had to do to help make your family’s ends meets. All honest work is honerable. Both my parents had 2 yr degrees & did social work, but they both scrubbed floors nights to put 4 kids thru college.

My green card holding wife was in the US for 25 days after we returned from Germany and she found a job…granted its $8 an hour and 75%, but she did it.

Do you know how many tax paying Americans in our country stand in long lines daily for DAY WORK that pays less than that, just so they can feed thier children? I work near a port, I see it daily. It’s heartbreaking. This is the first yr on record that our college kids have been left out in the cold. They can’t even get minimum wg jobs to allow them to go back for the fall semester. PLEASE inform yourself. Please.
@redfistaor Do you watch the news?…its a common self -protection practice in the border states to keep a fully stocked fridge in the back yard for the thieves, otherwise they just break in. Even the rancher who got slaughtered on his own property by the outlaws, had to keep a full fridge for them. He was a very kind man. Even as he watched them ruining his property and freightening his family, he still fed them and gave them rest. I guess they showed him!
